Task 1: Create a PowerPoint Slide Show (Compulsory)

In Essence – Read Chapters 1-4

This task is intended to assess clarity of understanding, ability to apply philosophy practically, and capacity to communicate insights accessibly to others. It is designed to assess understanding, reflection, and practical application.

Task 2: Reel (compulsory)

Take one of the questions in the In Essence book or any question you feel people would be interested in. Then produce a reel of forty-five seconds (maximum!) where you answer that. Follow the tips below to make your reel the best it can be!


HOOK - Start with something attention-grabbing — a bold statement, surprising visual, quick movement, or on-screen text that sparks curiosity.

OUTDOORS / GOOD Light – film your reel where there is good light and a beautiful / interesting background

BE PERSONAL / INTERESTING – be creative in how you answer – humour, unexpected things, nice quotes

MESSAGE – try to have an empowering or interesting message from the video

SMILE & SPEAK CLEARLY – make your reel upbeat and clear


Logistical Points:

- Tell us your question at the beginning and then go straight into an answer!

- Don’t worry about adding audio / video / captions (ensure clarity in your speech, quiet space for best audio output, good lighting (light source/window facing you avoid having light source behind you)

- Always record vertically to fill the screen

- We may give you some feedback to improve your reel

- Let us know if you are happy for it to be edited and posted on the WTB Instagram Page
